The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has verified that a fire at Suame Magazine Zone 18, close to the garages in Kumasi, resulted in the death of a 70-year-old woman.

Madam Bawama Naya, the victim, was caught in the fire early on Saturday, May 16, 2026.

The Ghana National Fire Service's Ashanti Regional Command reports that the fire also damaged a number of objects, including automobiles, metal containers, wooden buildings, and vehicle engines.

The Breman Fire Station got a distress call at approximately 0322 GMT regarding a fire involving nearby structures, vehicles, and vehicle spare parts, according to a statement released by the Service on Saturday.

After then, a combined firefighting force from the Komfo Anokye and Breman fire stations was sent to the location.
