At the University of Ghana campus, supporters of the NDC's Ayawaso West Wuogon Parliamentary Candidate, John Dumelo, and Malik Basintale engaged in a furious altercation with supporters of Lydia Seyram Alhassan, the MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon, and Second Lady Samira Bawumia. On November 29, 2024, the two parties attacked the University of Ghana campus to engage with students as part of their campaign activities with voters ahead of the elections.
But when an altercation broke out amongst some of the party members on the ground, things took a different turn. Tensions escalated to the point where some fans had to be separated to avoid physical conflict, as seen by a video showing supporters from both sides exchanging insults and angry comments. John Dumelo was captured on camera conversing with campus security guards. Security personnel intervened after it seemed that both sides had inflamed one another, and they were successful in reducing tensions between them. It is still unknown what caused the two sides to clash.
