The National Media Commission (NMC) has criticized Oyerepa TV for broadcasting offensive material, and the Commission isn't holding back—it's telling all broadcasters to change their ways or risk punishment.
In a meeting held on October 31, Yaw Boadu-Ayeboafo, the chairman of the NMC, expressed his worries on the course that certain stations are pursuing with their programming. He called on broadcasters to take greater responsibility, pointing out the harm that some shows can do to viewers.

This year, the NMC received around 9,000 public complaints, ranging from loan and money laundering frauds to sexual content. Oyerepa TV was singled out as a major offender for displaying explicit content out of the more than 40 media outlets that were flagged.

Despite the station's management's disappointment at being singled out, the NMC refused to back down, claiming that the material they broadcast went too far and could be harmful to the public.
The Commission is now considering referring the matter to the National Communications Authority (NCA), which can result in Oyerepa TV's license being revoked.

The NCA was also criticized by the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), which said it lacked a clear strategy for Ghana's shift to digital media. They are doubting the authority's sincerity in upholding broadcast standards.

In response, the NCA reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining integrity in the media landscape and stated that it is continually monitoring the industry.
