During his visit to Ho on January 24, President Mahama told chiefs to stay seated when they greeted him. Ghanaians from all political parties have expressed their gratitude for this kind act. The President wanted to thank everyone who helped him before and during the election, which is why he traveled to Ho. In order to show his respect and gratitude for the chiefs' attendance, he defied custom and asked them to sit rather than stand as he spoke with them. While many Ghanaians have praised President Mahama's kindness and humility, some have taken advantage of the occasion to compare him to former President Akufo Addo. Some have pointed out the difference between the two leaders' methods by criticizing the former president for supposedly telling commanders to stand before welcoming him.
