President-elect John Dramani Mahama promises a lean, highly efficient government as part of efforts to substantially cut government spending. He emphasized that this pledge shows his sincere desire to reduce government spending. The NDC leader pledged to nominate no more than 60 ministers and deputy ministers during his campaign activities.
Ghana will have its cleanest government ever under my leaner administration. It will greatly benefit Ghanaians and raise the bar for upcoming administrations. He said, "What we currently have can never be and should never be a yardstick." Oliver Barker-Vormawor, a private lawyer and social activist, has proposed that the future president combine several ministries in order to achieve his preferred government size, which is in keeping with John Dramani Mahama's bold goal of maintaining a small government.
Oliver Barker-Vormawor, the founder and head of Democracy Hub, suggested in a Facebook post that the Ministries of National Security and Interior should be combined to form the Ministry of Internal Security. He also suggested that the Ministries of Transportation, Aviation, Works, and Housing should be combined to form the Ministry for Public Infrastructure. Additionally, he proposed merging the Ministry of Chieftaincy with the Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Tourism.
Oliver Barker-Vormawor, meanwhile, has that Dorcas Toffey be appointed as the Minister of Social Protection and Gender in the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, which is located in Tamale South. He says that Dzifa Gomashie is the greatest candidate for the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, James Algaga is the best candidate for the Ministry of Food Security and Blue Economy, and Hon. Clement Apaak is the finest candidate for the Ministry of Education.
