Ashanti Region, Ejisu — August 6, 2025 According to local authorities, several people have died in a sad accident involving a 2M Express bus on the Ejisu-Konongo road in Ghana's Ashanti Region. Early on Tuesday morning, the bus headed for Kumasi allegedly swerved out of its lane and struck an approaching truck. When emergency personnel arrived on the scene, a number of passengers were declared dead and others had various injuries. Police and Ghana National Fire Service officials said the impact was severe and that parts of the bus were severely damaged, however the precise number of casualties has not been established. For medical attention, survivors were sent immediately to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and Ejisu Government Hospital.
The bus seemed to be speeding prior to the crash, according to one eyewitness who called the situation "devastating." Although preliminary indications point to potential driver weariness or brake failure, authorities are still looking into the cause. Although it has not yet issued an official comment, 2M Express, a well-known intercity transport provider, is reportedly completely assisting authorities. The increasing frequency of highway accidents in the area has alarmed the National Road Safety Authority, which is advising commercial transport companies to closely follow safety regulations. This tragedy contributes to Ghana's concerning trend of traffic accidents, especially on main highways that connect regional capitals. After the investigations are finished, officials are anticipated to publish a thorough report.
