The absence of Akosua Serwaa, one of the surviving spouses of the late Highlife musician Daddy Lumba, at his funeral has been questioned by entertainment commentator and podcaster David Adjei Frimpong, also known as MC Portfolio. He describes this as culturally disturbing.

Speaking on Starr Showbiz with Feeling Daddy on Starr 103.5 FM, MC Portfolio stated that it goes against long-standing Akan customs regarding widowhood ceremonies for there to be no living husband at such a crucial time.

He added, "It's strange to see that one of the survivors is not present at the entire funeral." "I'm not sure how culturally. Since we have consistently maintained that the Kuna [Widowhood right] extends beyond property sharing or spousal claims of any kind.

Regardless of interpersonal disputes or internal family conflicts, he emphasized that widowhood responsibilities are not optional, contending that presence alone bears cultural value.

"Your presence is just as important as the body's arrival. from the moment people express their sympathies until the entire funeral is canceled," he said. "So, I'm not sure what tradition is based on for her to be absent from action at this crucial time."

MC Portfolio warned that the absence would have cultural repercussions, characterizing it as a grave violation of custom.

He remarked, "Your absence is culturally... a cultural blunder." "Your Kuna right is essential, regardless of how you may disagree. All you need to do is be there.

While a surviving husband may decide how actively to participate, he continued, complete absence, in his opinion, compromises the cultural significance of widowhood rites.

"And it raises eyebrows to see 'Maame Akosua Serwaa' totally absent on a date that the family has all agreed upon." "I'm not sure what will happen after this," he said.
