In a recent interview with the Girls Aloud podcast, Ghanaian comedy actor Richard Asante, better known by his stage as Kalybos, discussed the reasons behind his breakup with Frimpongmaa, his ex-girlfriend of five years. When Kalybos thought back on their time together, he said that although he valued their lengthy connection, he eventually came to the conclusion that time by itself does not impose a marriage requirement.
He clarified that being in a relationship for a longer time does not obligate you to make compromises with the other person. Kalybos made the painful decision to split up with his partner after evaluating the relationship and concluding that it wasn't moving him in the path he had in mind for his future.
Kalybos gave an honest response when one of the panelists questioned him about whether he had married his present wife because of her wealth or her Diasporic heritage. "Yes, she's a rich woman," he added, acknowledging that his wife's financial security did influence his decision.
In a touching social media message, Kalybos recently commemorated his and his wife's first wedding anniversary, expressing his happiness and thankfulness for this new chapter in his life.
