According to Ellen Ama Daaku, a spokesman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Rawlings' name would be taken off monuments if the NPP were to win power. Her remarks follow the announcement made by majority leader Mahama Ayariga in parliament on Tuesday, February 3, that our airport's name will be changed from Kotoka International Airport to Accra International Airport. Mahama Ayariga claims that "the Minister for Transport will bring a bill to facilitate this change." There will also be a charge for Accra International Airport. Ellen responded by saying that when the NPP took back power in the upcoming general election, the NDC will get a taste of their own medicine. She claims that since the late Rawlings was previously involved in a coup, it is absurd that monuments bear his name.
