During a recent live television broadcast, Ghanaian lawyer, politician, and National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Communications Officer Sammy Adu Gyamfi made a contentious statement that has generated a lot of discussion among Ghanaians. His remarks have been deemed extremely insulting and unacceptable by some, while others have defended his stance.
Sammy Gyamfi boldly declared on the Metro TV Morning Show that he would quickly go if he were to arrive in paradise and discover Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo there. His comments were made during a conversation about the persistent issue of illicit mining, or "galamsey."
The way the government has handled galamsey, which has seriously harmed Ghana's ecosystem, especially its forests and waterways, has angered him. He claims that important natural resources have been destroyed as a result of the current administration's ineffective crisis management under Akufo-Addo and Bawumia. Sammy Gyamfi made the controversial claim that "I will check out of that place if I die and go to heaven only to meet Akufo-Addo and Bawumia there" in this context.
