The director of communications for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's 2024 campaign team, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has denied Ghana Web's story that the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) statewide "Thank You Tour" is a secret campaign stunt for the former vice president.

On April 23, 2025, Aboagye explained on UTV that the tour is a custom based on traditional respect rather than a political tactic.


He underlined that the NPP leadership felt obliged to express appreciation to supporters who took part in the internal elections held by the party.

He emphasized that the gesture is common in Ghanaian society and said, "Culturally, if someone honors an invitation to your event and you don't express gratitude, it's considered offensive."
Thousands of party supporters traveled great distances to cast their ballots during the primaries, and Aboagye said their commitment merits recognition.

He stated that the goal of the tour is to promote unity within the party and show appreciation for their efforts.


He emphasized that Bawumia's participation in the appreciation tour is normal and shouldn't be interpreted as a campaign since he was the elected candidate. He asked, "How can we do the 'Thank You Tour' without him?"

In addition, Aboagye emphasized the significance of early party reconciliation and urged members to come together in front of the 2028 elections.
