PK Sarpong, a prominent member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has chastised Hon. Sam Nartey George, Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, for what he sees as double standards.
In a Facebook post, PK Sarpong reminded Sam George of how he had aggressively criticized Zipline Drone Delivery Services when he was in opposition. According to him, Sam George was staunchly opposed to the drone program at the time, doubting its relevance and utility to the country.
However, PK Sarpong is surprised that the same Sam George is now applauding the Zipline Drone Service. The NPP member labeled Sam George's sudden change as hypocrisy and encouraged him to seek forgiveness from God and the very people he attacked, President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
He said, "Dear Minister Sam Dzata George, I recommend that you ask God for forgiveness as you go to church today. Elder, you once criticized Zipline Drone Delivery Services but are now applauding them. Go and seek forgiveness from Akufo-Addo and Bawumia."
PK Sarpong's remark generated reactions on social media, with some agreeing with him and others believing Sam George has the right to change his mind if he now realizes the benefits of the drone delivery system.
Zipline is a drone delivery service launched by the Akufo-Addo government to transport medical supplies to rural communities. Many opposition leaders attacked it when it was first introduced, but due to its influence on healthcare delivery, it has since acquired widespread favor.
This incident emphasizes the need of politicians using their words carefully, particularly when opposing new projects.
