During the Dormaa-Gonokrom shootout, police shot and killed a suspected armed robber.

At Dormaa-Gonokrom, a border village in the Dormaa Municipality of the Bono Region, a SUSPECTED armed robber was shot dead after a gunfight with police.

The event happened last Thursday during an intelligence-led operation against local robbery groups, according to the police.

Five different firearms were found during the raid, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Joshua Copposon, Bono Regional Police Commander.

According to DCOP Copposon, police information on February 11, 2026, indicated that a gang was preparing to target traders traveling along the Dormaa-Gonokrom highway.

The planned robbery was instantly stopped by the deployment of surveillance teams.

Early on February 12, 2026, officers approaching a parked motorcycle were shot at by bushes nearby.

The suspects were overpowered when the cops returned fire.One male suspect was found dead with an AK-47 rifle next to him during a subsequent check of the area.
