At Tema Port, the Energy Minister examines 2,500 ECG containers that have been uncleared.

In order to assess the condition of over 2,500 containers that the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) purchased but left uncleared at the port, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, Minister of Energy, toured the Tema Harbor.Experiences traveling in Ghana The Minister's commitment to resolving energy sector inefficiencies and encouraging the wise use of public funds is demonstrated by this visit. Demurrage charges totaling a startling GHS 1.5 billion had been amassed on the uncleared containers, which contained essential commodities acquired during the previous administration.
The issue exposes serious shortcomings in interagency cooperation and resource management, which has left the country with a heavy financial burden. Hon. Jinapor conveyed profound worry over the issue, calling it intolerable and promising the Ministry's dedication to enhancing operational effectiveness and accountability. He emphasized that clearing the containers right now will prevent more financial losses and make it easier to carry out important energy projects that will benefit Ghanaians. The Minister emphasized the necessity of effective management of public resources to further the nation's developmental goals while assuring the public that measures will be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
