Ambassador Smith reveals that Ofori-Atta has been transferred from the Caroline Detention Center.

According to Victor Emmanuel Smith, Ghana's ambassador to the US, Ken Ofori-Atta has been released from the Caroline Detention Facility.The Ambassador states that Ken Ofori-Atta is scheduled to appear in a virtual hearing before a US court on January 20, 2026. He said he didn't know why the hearing would be conducted virtually, but he assumed it was a US custom.Ken Ofori-Atta, the former Finance Minister, has been released from the Caroline Detention Facility, according to Victor Emmanuel Smith, Ghana's ambassador to the United States of America (USA). On Monday, January 5, 2026, Ken Ofori-Atta was taken into custody by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) due to concerns about his immigration status. The Caroline Detention Facility received him.
