Hopeson Ardoye said in his statement that he had previously brought attention to a sum of GHS 2.79 (two cedis and seventy-nine pesewas) that he thought was still in his account and that he anticipated the company would take care of the matter.Despite appearing lighthearted and symbolic given the modest sum involved, his remark attracted attention on social media and spurred discussions among cellphone companies over customer service responsiveness and accountability. The lawmaker said in a follow-up that he was called by MTN Ghana staff, who "did the needful, suggesting that the matter had been resolved satisfactorily."Even though the amount in question was quite tiny, his comments suggested that the telecom provider took his complaint seriously and handled it effectively.Since then, the public's response to the statement has been conflicting.
