Adam Mutawakilu is named the new MD of Ghana Water Company by President Mahama.

Adam Mutawakilu's appointment as the new Managing Director of Ghana Water Company by President John Dramani Mahama is indicative of his broad experience in finance, energy, and government. Having established a strong career in academia and public service, Mutawakilu brings a plethora of knowledge in important areas to the position. Mutawakilu has several advanced degrees, including an MSc in Energy Economics from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Studies and an MSc in Development Finance from the University of Ghana. Additionally, he finished coursework at the University of Cape Coast in 2022 for an MPhil in Petroleum and Oil Studies. In addition to his degree, he holds an Executive Certificate and an Executive MBA from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
Mutawakilu was the first Member of Parliament for the Damongo Constituency from 2013 to 2020 prior to his appointment. He rose to the position of Vice Chairman and Ranking Member of the Mines and Energy Committee throughout his term, becoming a prominent player in the committee. His committee leadership was instrumental in bringing the contentious Ameri Novation Agreement to light, which ultimately caused Energy Minister Hon. Boakye Agyarko to retire. Additionally, Mutawakilu made contributions to the Office of Profit's Committee of Members Holding. Apart from his time in parliament, Mutawakilu has extensive experience in local government. He started his career in the public sector as the Head of Treasury at the West Gonja District and was the District Chief Executive for the district from 2009 to 2013.
