Ghbase said that while many fans only witnessed Daddy Lumba's success and celebrity, he was secretly dealing with major health issues. Dwabeng Fosu, his best buddy, has recently disclosed that the musician suffered a spinal injury for a long time. According to him, Lumba sustained the injuries in a childhood accident. He didn't take the injury seriously because he was still highly active at the time. However, the discomfort worsened and began to have a profound effect on him as he grew older. Lumba was later informed by specialists that he required surgery to correct his spine. He underwent a challenging, $40,000 procedure. During the procedure, portions of his spine were replaced with metal.
His condition did not improve even after this expensive procedure. Even as he continued to perform and smile in public, he continued to live in suffering. What he was really going through behind closed doors was unknown to his fans. He concealed the anguish by still singing and producing music. Dwabeng claims that doctors informed Lumba that his time on earth was limited. Lumba recorded a special song titled "Makra Mo" as a result. He used the song to bid farewell to all the people he cared about. It came from a place of profound anguish and truth and was brimming with emotion. According to Dwabeng, the song captured Lumba's inner feelings even when others couldn't perceive them. Although Lumba's life was full of song, it was also filled with quiet suffering.
Despite his physical limitations, he continued to perform his songs for the world. Many people are now discovering the real story behind one of Ghana's biggest music icons.
