The late Akua Donkor's eldest son, Akwasi Baffour, has described the events leading up to his mother's death, claiming that everything happened on the same day. In an interview with GhanaWeb, Akwasi revealed that he was initially notified of his mother's unexpected health problems via a call from relatives on Monday, October 28 at around 4 a.m. Family members brought her to Nsawam Government Hospital after hearing this shocking news, but he claimed that because of the severity of her illness, she was sent to the Ridge Hospital in Accra.
"My mother's death is a fact. My name is Akwasi Baffour, and I am her eldest son," he affirmed.
According to Akwasi, the attending physician told him that she was in critical condition when she arrived to Ridge Hospital, but that every attempt was being made to stabilize her. He claimed that in order to ameliorate her condition, she was given blood and placed on drips. However, the family was notified that she had died by 10 p.m. But what killed her hasn't been revealed to us. He confirmed that Akua Donkor was eighty-three years old. "She was here exactly three weeks ago and she was in very good health," he added.
