The pursuit of justice for Nana Agyei has entered a critical phase as Ghana intensifies international engagement to ensure accountability and uphold the dignity of its citizens abroad.

Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has confirmed that the Latvian Foreign Ministry has formally responded to his request for cooperation in ongoing investigations surrounding the case. According to him, Latvian authorities have officially agreed to receive a Ghanaian delegation in Riga on January 20, 2026, marking a significant step forward in the quest for truth and justice.

Describing the development as crucial, Hon. Ablakwa stated that the visit will form part of Ghana’s determined efforts to ensure that no case involving the loss of a Ghanaian life is ignored or mishandled, regardless of where it occurs.

“This journey is about truth, justice, and accountability,” the Minister said, reaffirming his commitment to keep the public informed throughout the process. He stressed that regular updates would continue in the spirit of transparency and public accountability, especially to the family of Nana Agyei and the Ghanaian public.

The Foreign Affairs Minister further underscored the firm position of the Mahama administration, stating that every Ghanaian life matters—whether at home or in the diaspora. He emphasized that the government remains prepared to do whatever it takes to protect the dignity, rights, and safety of all Ghanaians, both within the country and beyond its borders.

Advocates for justice have welcomed the development, describing it as a clear signal that Ghana will no longer tolerate silence or delay when its citizens are affected abroad. The forthcoming engagement in Latvia is expected to deepen cooperation, clarify facts, and reinforce Ghana’s resolve to stand up for its people on the global stage.

As the January 20 delegation visit approaches, many Ghanaians are watching closely, hopeful that the process will deliver justice not only for Nana Agyei, but also set a strong precedent for how the nation defends its citizens wherever they may be.
