President John Dramani Mahama’s official visit to Lusaka, Zambia, entered a decisive phase on Day Two with high-level engagements focused on strengthening bilateral ties and deepening cooperation between the two African nations.

The President held high-level discussions with his Zambian counterpart and senior government officials, focusing on priority areas including trade and investment, energy cooperation, agriculture, education, and regional integration. The engagements reaffirmed the shared resolve of both countries to pursue sustainable development and people-centred growth that delivers tangible benefits to their citizens.

President Mahama emphasized the importance of deepening economic collaboration as a pathway to shared prosperity, noting that closer Ghana–Zambia relations can unlock new opportunities for businesses, investors, and workers in both countries. He stressed that African nations must increasingly rely on one another through strong partnerships that promote value addition, industrial growth, and resilient economies.

Beyond government-to-government engagements, the President also met with private sector leaders and representatives of regional institutions. In these discussions, he highlighted the critical role of South-South cooperation in driving inclusive growth and strengthening Africa’s collective position in the global economy.

Reaffirming Ghana’s readiness to work closely with Zambia, President Mahama called for deliberate efforts to leverage each country’s comparative advantages, deepen regional integration, and build economic partnerships that support long-term development and shared prosperity.
