Social media was buzzing with surprise and mixed reactions after a relationship prank involving two lovers turned sour during a street interview on Easter Monday, April 6, 2026.

The incident involved Sofia, a beautician and her boyfriend, Kwame Joojo.

According to reports, Joojo had contacted popular street interviewer Street King to prank his girlfriend in order to test whether she would mention his name as her boyfriend during a phone call.

Joojo claimed he had recently bought Sofia an iPhone 17 Pro Max and given her GH¢10,000 less than a week before the incident.

During the prank call, Sofia mentioned another man’s name, identifying him as Ernest, instead of Joojo. She later explained that Ernest was a friend of Joojo who had been disturbing her.

Heartbroken after hearing Sofia fail to mention his name, Joojo reportedly went to her shop with cameras to retrieve the phone he had gifted her. The incident was captured and shared on social media, where many users criticised Sofia.

Speaking about the matter, Joojo said, “On Easter Monday, we went for a health walk and the street interviewer came around. I said I wanted to test my girlfriend, so when we called her, she mentioned Ernest. I was shocked because I bought the phone for her, and just last week I gave her GH¢10,000. I was surprised and deeply hurt.”

Sofia, however, claimed she had not been treated fairly and wanted her side of the story to be heard. She later took the matter to CTV’s Maasem Nie on April 13, 2026.

She explained that Joojo bought the phone for her as compensation after allegedly cheating on her.

“Before the video, our relationship was not stable. Since I did not mention his name and instead mentioned someone else, he decided to follow me and come for the phone. Since he used the media to tarnish my image, I also decided to use the media to restore my image,” she said.

Sofia further stated that she had been supportive of Joojo throughout the relationship.

She added that at the time of the prank, they were already having problems and she did not think Joojo was the best person to mention as her boyfriend. She therefore mentioned Ernest, whom she said had been disturbing her.

Joojo, who also appeared on the programme, denied allegations that he had cheated on Sofia.

However, the matter was eventually resolved, with a final agreement that Joojo would return the phone after admitting that he still loved Sofia and apologising to her. Meanwhile, Sofia stated that she no longer loved him.
