The Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, has called on grassroots supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to demand accountability from the government.
According to him, party supporters have worked tirelessly, yet government appointees are enjoying the benefits without including them.
Taking to social media on May 11, 2025, amid widespread backlash over a viral video involving the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, Fordjour criticized the situation.
In the video, Gyamfi is seen handing out U.S. dollars to a repentant priest, Evangelist Patricia Asiedua Oduro Koranteng, popularly known as Nana Agradaa.
According to a news report by MyJoyOnline.com, Gyamfi is expected to appear at Jubilee House to explain the circumstances surrounding the incident, in line with the recently launched Code of Conduct for public officials by President John Dramani Mahama.
“In just 120 days, they are arrogantly and opulently sharing dollars in public, having stashed millions of cocaine dollars under their beds. These are people who have never worked a day in their lives in any company.
"They are displaying ultra-expensive phones and tablets on set—devices that could fund classroom blocks in their constituency. They have suddenly acquired and are driving around in $450,000 Range Rover Autobiographies in less than 120 days in office.
“Yet all this is being done under the ‘toothless’ Code of Conduct, which cannot and will not be enforced. Meanwhile, hungry NDC fanatics, enduring Dumsor and rising costs of living in just 120 days, continue to defend these officials on social media with their 1 GHC data. You worked, they’re chopping! You must demand accountability from your opulent appointees,” Fordjour stated.
Meanwhile, Sammy Gyamfi has apologized to the public and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) fraternity over the incident.
Gyamfi reportedly handed over an undisclosed amount of foreign currency to Nana Agradaa at an event that has since gone viral.
The incident has sparked public criticism and raised concerns about the ethical conduct expected of public officeholders.
The Code, a cornerstone of the government’s broader anti-corruption agenda, emphasizes integrity, transparency, and accountability in public life.
