The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the provisional results of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for school candidates. A press statement issued on Saturday, August 23, 2025, announced that the results have been dispatched to schools through Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Directors of Education.

Candidate Statistics
This year’s examination recorded 603,328 candidates from 20,395 schools across the country. The figure comprised 297,250 males and 306,078 females, who sat for the exams at 2,237 centres nationwide. WAEC further disclosed that 2,526 candidates were absent.
Among the candidates were students with special needs, including 72 with visual impairments, 239 with hearing impairments, and 161 requiring other forms of support.
Sanctions for Malpractice
According to WAEC, investigations into examination malpractices and irregularities during the conduct of the exams and marking of scripts led to sanctions approved at the 36th Meeting of the Final Awards and Examiners’ Appointment Committee. The sanctions include:
Cancellation of subject results for 718 candidates
Cancellation of entire results for 177 candidates
Withholding of subject results for 1,240 candidates
Withholding of entire results for 93 candidates
In total, 895 results were cancelled and 1,333 results withheld.
Additionally, subject results from 119 schools were cancelled, while results from 87 schools are still under investigation. WAEC indicated that the outcome of these ongoing probes will be announced by September 6, 2025.

Warning Against Fraudsters
WAEC cautioned candidates and the general public against fraudsters who claim they can alter or upgrade results for a fee. The Council stressed that its results are secure, tamper-proof, and verifiable.

The Council expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service, security agencies, school authorities, invigilators, examiners, and other partners for their support in ensuring the smooth conduct of the 2025 BECE and the release of the results.
Steps to Check Your 2024 BECE Results Online
1. Visit the BECE Result Portal: Go to eresults.waecgh.org.
2. Enter Your Index Number: Type in your BECE index number.
3. Confirm Your Index Number: Re-enter the number to verify its accuracy.
4. Select Exam Type: Choose either BECE School or BECE Private.
5. Select Exam Year: Choose "2025" from the dropdown menu.
6. Enter Serial Number: Input the serial number on your BECE result card (e.g., 180000000001).
7. Enter PIN: Type in your unique PIN (e.g., A1B2C3D4E5F9).
8. Complete the Captcha: Tick the captcha box to confirm you're not a robot.
9. Click Submit: Hit the "Submit" button, and your results will be displayed in a new window.
