Vice President, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has praised the Ministry of Food and Agriculture for its inflexible dedication to revolutionizing the country's agricultural sector.

During a working visit to the Ministry, she commended the efforts of Minister Eric Opoku and his team for their tireless work in transforming agriculture from subsistence farming to a thriving enterprise and agribusiness sector.

"The Ministry's focus on empowering women and vulnerable groups is a testament to its commitment to inclusive growth," Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said. "Food security remains a core pillar of national development, and Ghana must strive for self-sufficiency in food production."

The Vice President was briefed on key interventions aimed at addressing food security challenges, including the Feed Ghana Programme, strengthening the National Food Buffer Stock system, and expanding irrigation and vegetable production. Other initiatives include investing in soil and crop testing, developing value chains through processing and marketing, and revitalizing the poultry sector.

"We are working to ensure that agriculture becomes a viable and profitable venture for our farmers," Minister Eric Opoku said. "Our efforts are geared towards increasing productivity, generating employment, and improving access to modern agricultural inputs and services."

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang emphasized the importance of collaboration with research institutions such as the CSIR to harness innovation and local expertise. She also stressed the need to involve Ghanaians in the assembly and maintenance of agricultural machinery to ensure sustainability.

"The Government remains strongly committed to supporting the Ministry's efforts and strengthening coordination to drive agricultural transformation," she assured.

The meeting reinforced the collective resolve to build a resilient, productive, and self-sufficient agricultural sector for Ghana.
