Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has inaugurated the 74th Annual Council Meeting of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), hosted by Ghana this year.

She lauded member governments for their inflexible commitment to this distinguished regional institution, citing WAEC as a ray of successful regional cooperation that has significantly shaped the human capital landscape of participating nations.

The Vice President emphasized WAEC's crucial role in upholding the highest educational standards, while urging the Council to remain steadfast in its pursuit of credibility and integrity.

She stressed the imperative of collective responsibility in eradicating examination malpractice, enlisting the support of schools, communities, and stakeholders in this noble endeavour, in line with the President's clarion call to safeguard societal values.

In a celebratory tone, Vice President Opoku-Agyemang presented awards to outstanding students who excelled in the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2025, with the first three awardees being young Ghanaian ladies whose remarkable achievements epitomize the country's promise.

She extended her warm congratulations to the laureates, their parents, teachers, and communities, while encouraging other students to draw inspiration from their success.

Reaffirming Ghana's commitment to upholding excellence in education, the Vice President assured WAEC of the country's unflinching support in strengthening assessment systems, protecting examination integrity, and ensuring that educational outcomes meet global standards, thereby driving national and regional development.
