Popular TikToker Mavis Agyeiwaa, known as Political Mavis, has taken a swipe at Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, accusing him of sycophancy.

She chastised the minister, who is also the Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, for his inconsistent stance on state funds allegedly stolen by former government appointees.

In a viral video she shared on her TikTok page, Political Mavis pointed out that when the current government took office in January 2025, Ablakwa was appointed chairman of ORAL (Operation Recover All Loots), tasked with recovering state funds purportedly stolen by the previous administration.

She asked; "Has he forgotten his mathematics so soon? Isn't GH₵21.19 billion greater than $1 billion he wants Ghanaians to line up and praise president Mahama for?"

She added; “I wish to remind Samuel Okudzato Ablakwa that on the 10th of February 2025, was when you submitted the ORAL report which contained 2,417cases to the president and the Attorney General.

“He mentioned that out of the 2,417 cases, just 36 including notable scandals like PDS, National Cathedral and SML among others, an amount of $21.19b could be recovered.”

She noted that eight months into the government's tenure, Ablakwa and the administration have failed to recover the alleged $21.19 billion captured in the ORAL report.

Mavis questioned why Ablakwa would expect people to celebrate the president's recent deal securing $1 billion from Singapore to bolster the economy when the minister had previously highlighted the $21.19 billion in alleged stolen funds.

“You cannot point to a single case out of the lots that you and your government have successfully prosecuted and how much you have recovered for the state but you want us to celebrate the president for bringing $1b from Singapore?”. She asked.

When the ORAL Committee completed it work, a short ceremony was held to formally receive the report.

Chairman of the Committee, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa who presented a summary of the findings, disclosed that the value of thirty-six (36) financial cases reviewed was estimated at $20.49 billion.

According to a summary of the report, the cost of land cases alone was estimated at $702.8 million.

President Mahama, upon receipt of the report stated that “Ghana is no longer a safe haven for corruption. To those who stand for integrity, accountability, and the rule of law, I assure you that this government remains your steadfast pattern in building a nation where honesty and hard work are rewarded”

He subsequently handed the report to the Attorney General and Minister for Justice with a directive to immediately begin investigations into the committee’s findings.

However, the Attorney General and the government have maintained a loud silence on the report which was supposed to recover purported stolen money from members of the erstwhile administration to develop the country.
