Excitement is building within the Faculty of Law at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) following the announcement of a joint ticket for the upcoming Law Students’ Union (LSU) elections.

Presidential aspirant Akwasi Appiah Shadrach and vice-presidential candidate Frederick Adjei Kwabena have officially joined forces, unveiling a campaign anchored on the philosophy “Pār Librātum” Latin for “The Balanced Pair.”

In a recently released campaign video circulating across social media platforms, the pair outlined their vision for the LSU, emphasizing unity, representation, and inclusive governance.

What sets the partnership apart is the combination of two distinct student experiences within the faculty. Shadrach, a part-time student balancing professional and academic responsibilities, has teamed up with Frederick, a regular student actively engaged in campus life.

According to the candidates, this collaboration is intended to ensure that the interests of both regular and part-time students are adequately represented in the union's leadership and decision-making processes.

The duo argues that their partnership reflects the diversity of the faculty and positions them to better understand the unique challenges faced by students across both streams.

Their campaign message centres on balance — between strategic leadership and student engagement, academic excellence and welfare advocacy, as well as representation and accountability.

In their joint address, Shadrach and Frederick described Pār Librātum as a commitment to leadership that draws on complementary strengths to advance the collective interests of law students.

As campaigning gathers momentum, the alliance has generated considerable discussion among students, with supporters describing the ticket as a symbol of unity and inclusiveness.

The LSU elections are expected to be closely contested, with candidates seeking to convince students that they possess the vision and leadership needed to guide the union in the coming academic year.
