Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Insurance Association (GIA), Dr Kingsley Kwesi Kwabahson, has called on players in the insurance industry to work together to build stronger public confidence in insurance products through the delivery of promises and improved customer education.

Speaking at the launch of Hollard Insurance’s brand campaign on Friday, July 24, 2026, Dr Kwabahson stressed that the payment of legitimate insurance claims should not be viewed as a challenge for the industry, but rather that insurers need to do a better job communicating their successes to the public.

According to him, changing public perception about insurance requires a collective effort from all stakeholders.

“The key thing is that issues of payment of legitimate claims are not a problem for us. Perhaps we have not trumpeted our message well enough, and so that is the essence. So, for all of us here, for those who will carry the message, making Hollard the Ghanaian name in insurance is simply a joint task,” he said.

Dr Kwabahson further urged insurance companies to honour the commitments they make to policyholders, noting that trust remains one of the most important pillars of the industry.

He also identified the complexity of insurance policies as one of the reasons many Ghanaians struggle to understand insurance products.

According to him, simplifying policy documents and making insurance products easier to understand would help improve customer confidence and encourage more people to take up insurance.

"Let us deliver on our promises: the products that we sell. We’ve realised that in most cases we are having challenges because people don’t understand our products. Maybe the policies must be as simple as possible, and then we will be able to associate with exactly what it is that the policy gives.

“I’m very excited to be here, and I look forward to seeing Hollard become a Ghanaian name in insurance,” he added.

Also, speaking at the launch of Hollard Insurance's brand campaign, Managing Director Daniel Boi Addo described the initiative as the company's most significant strategic investment, stressing that building a trusted brand is just as important as delivering quality products.

He said Hollard's growth into one of Ghana's leading insurance companies has been driven by its commitment to honouring promises, paying valid claims promptly, investing in its workforce, and delivering exceptional customer experiences at every touchpoint.

“This campaign for us is our most significant strategic investment because, as a business, we've come to understand that great businesses make great products, but exceptional businesses make great brands.

According to him, the campaign seeks to reshape how Ghanaians perceive insurance by moving away from complex industry jargon and focusing on the everyday value insurance provides.

“Over the years, as a business, we've managed to push our life to become one of the top insurance companies in the country by honoring our promises, by paying all valid claims promptly, by investing in our people, and by ensuring that every engagement with a customer is consistent and is delightful,” he said.

He further explained that Hollard wants conversations around insurance to centre on protecting lives, families, homes, businesses, and livelihoods while giving customers the confidence and peace of mind to pursue their ambitions.

“We will make it less about indemnity and contribution and contracts, policy, and we'll make it more about how can we protect you in your regular lives in your everyday lives… We'll make the conversation about protecting your life and your livelihoods about protecting your family and your assets, your homes, protecting your business, and most importantly giving you the confidence and peace of mind for you to go chase your dreams,” he added.

The Hollard Insurance brand campaign forms part of the company’s efforts to strengthen its market presence, deepen customer engagement, and reinforce public confidence in insurance services in Ghana.
