Former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has stated that if he were president, he would have dismissed the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, following the circulation of a viral video in which Gyamfi was seen handing out US dollar bills to Evangelist Patricia Asiedua Oduro Koranteng, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, a self-proclaimed repented priestess.
According to Agyapong, who was also a former presidential aspirant on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), President John Dramani Mahama should sack Gyamfi to serve as a deterrent to other public officials.
Speaking at the 2025 Youth Quake Conference, held at Central University on May 15, 2025, under the theme "Entrepreneurship and National Leadership," Agyapong emphasised that nepotism and favoritism were key factors undermining the country’s development.
“Nepotism, favoritism is what is killing this country, no doubt about it. You know recently in the news, you hear Agradaa and Sammy Gyamfi.
“If I were the president I will fire Sammy Gyamfi right away, not even a second because the evidence is clear, I don’t need to go and do any investigations to serve as a deterrent,” he said.
On Sunday, May 11, 2025, a video surfaced online showing Gyamfi handing an undisclosed amounts of US dollars to Nana Agradaa.
The footage, believed to have been taken during a funeral, depicted Agradaa and her husband in close proximity as the money was handed over, raising ethical concerns and sparking accusations of showmanship.
The incident has ignited discussions regarding Gyamfi’s conduct as a public figure, with critics questioning the appropriateness of the exchange.
