The government has initiated a strategic recruitment drive to fortify the public sector workforce, as announced by Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson on Tuesday.

Addressing a Presidential Encounter with Organised Labour, Dr. Forson revealed that this endeavour forms part of a comprehensive agreement with labour unions aimed at bolstering workforce capacity, notwithstanding the country's prevailing fiscal constraints.

"Government has embarked on the process of recruiting personnel to the public service," Dr. Forson declared. "Concurrently, the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission is engaged in negotiations with Organised Labour to review conditions of service, which are poised to be ratified imminently."

This development follows closely on the heels of the government's decision to secure a substantial GH₵ 17 billion loan to defray wage obligations in 2025, underscoring the daunting financial challenges confronting the nation.

Dr. Forson's pronouncement underscores the administration's resolute commitment to honouring its obligations to labour unions, whilst deftly navigating the intricate complexities of Ghana's economic terrain.

The forthcoming recruitment drive is anticipated to bridge critical gaps in the public sector, catalyse improvements in service delivery, and augment the overall efficacy of government operations.
