In a monumental boost to education in the Gomoa West District, the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Richard Gyan-Mensah, who also serves as Deputy Minister for Energy and Green Transition, has distributed a staggering 70,000 copies of customized exercise books to all basic schools across the constituency.
The large-scale educational intervention, which is being hailed as one of the most comprehensive in the district's recent history, is aimed at alleviating the burden on parents, enhancing teaching and learning, and investing directly in the future of the next generation.
Speaking at a brief ceremony to hand over the books, Hon. Gyan-Mensah underscored his unflinching commitment to education as the bedrock of development.
"Education remains the most potent equalizer and the most formidable weapon we can bequeath to our children. This intervention of 70,000 exercise books is not mere charity; it is a strategic investment in the intellectual capital of Gomoa West. No child in this constituency should be deprived of learning because they cannot afford a book," the MP stated.
He further assured constituents that this is just the beginning of a broader educational transformation agenda for the constituency.
"We are resolute in our quest to ensure that every child of school-going age in Gomoa West has access to the tools needed to excel. We will continue to marshal resources to support our teachers, our pupils, and our schools until Gomoa West becomes a beacon of academic excellence in the Central Region," he added.
Beneficiary headteachers and District Education officials who received the books on behalf of the schools lauded the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful, especially as it will directly enhance academic work in the classrooms.
The distribution exercise is expected to cover every public basic school in all electoral areas within the Gomoa West Constituency, ensuring equity and inclusivity.
