The first batch of trainees has officially begun a free comprehensive hair training programme launched through a partnership between PKO Foundation, The Perfect Hair and Azalea Academy in Accra.
The initiative forms part of a broader empowerment drive aimed at equipping young women with practical vocational skills that can help them build careers and create sustainable sources of income within Ghana’s growing beauty industry.
Participants in the programme are receiving hands-on training in wig-making, hairstyling, salon management and other essential beauty techniques under the guidance of experienced professionals from the hair and beauty sector.
Organisers say the programme is designed not only to teach technical skills but also to inspire entrepreneurship and self-reliance among the trainees. The training sessions are expected to continue over four weekends, giving participants intensive practical exposure and mentorship throughout the programme.
Speaking about the initiative, representatives of the partner organisations highlighted the importance of empowering women through skills development and creating opportunities for economic independence.
The programme has already generated excitement among participants, many of whom expressed appreciation for the opportunity to learn valuable skills at no cost. Some trainees also described the initiative as a life-changing opportunity that could open doors to employment and business ownership in the future.
PKO Foundation continues to expand its community-focused projects through collaborations in education, empowerment and youth development, while The Perfect Hair and Azalea Academy bring professional expertise and industry experience to the initiative.
Organisers are hopeful the programme will positively impact the lives of participants and encourage more young women to pursue careers in the beauty and fashion industry. The successful start of the first batch also signals the possibility of future editions aimed at reaching even more beneficiaries across the country.
