Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has eulogized President John Dramani Mahama, likening his bold leadership to that of Ghana's founding father, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
Addressing a throng of supporters at the Accra International Airport, Debrah lauded Mahama's landmark achievement at the UNGA, where he championed a resolution declaring the transatlantic slave trade "the gravest crime against humanity."
"Several years ago, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah led Africa's liberation struggle and made Ghana proud. We became the first sub-Saharan African country to gain independence. Several years down the line, when the African Union was looking for someone courageous, bold, and wise to lead the charge, they found none but our President," Debrah declared.
Debrah extolled Mahama's unwavering courage, stating, "Mr. President, Your forebears would be proud of you because you are bold and courageous."
He added, "I believe President's late father 'will be very proud of you' for leading a charge to the United Nations and acknowledging on a global stage 'that slavery is the most grievous crime against humanity and to call for reparation; an assignment you executed excellently."
Mahama was accorded a hero's welcome, received by Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang and other dignitaries, with a grand ceremony marking his triumphant return.
