Operatives of the National Security and the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) have reportedly stormed the residence of the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, to effect his arrest.
According to news reports, Wontumi is wanted for interrogation at the NIB office in the Ashanti Region.
The reports further state that the operation was allegedly orchestrated by the NIB boss in the region.
However, in an interview on Wontumi TV on May 23, 2025, Wontumi responded to the raid on his home, explaining that the security officials claimed they had a warrant to effect his arrest, although he had not seen any such document.
He added that the police had sent him an invitation for interrogation, to which he responded, stating that he would report on Monday, May 26, 2025.
He said he has no reason why the NIB stormed his house despite his commitment to cooperate.
