'My wife had HIV since 2017 and never told me before our 2020 marriage' – Man breaks down in tears on TV

A caller identified only as JB was reduced to tears as he shared a deeply emotional story during Joy Prime's Zero HIV Stigma Campaign show.
According to JB, he only discovered after marriage that his wife had been living with HIV since 2017, a revelation that has left him heartbroken and questioning their future.
JB, who had called during the phone-in section on the live TV to share his experience, narrated how he married his wife in 2020 without any knowledge of her HIV status.
According to him, as a devout Muslim, he said he refrained from any sexual relations before marriage, adhering strictly to his religious beliefs.
However, not long after their wedding, his wife fell ill, prompting him to take her to the hospital.
“The doctor asked me to come and do a certain lab or something. That is where I discovered that my wife is positive. But thank God, I was negative,” JB said, his voice breaking with emotion.
According to him, despite the shock, he decided to stay with his wife and support her through counselling and medication.
“I love my wife so dearly. I supported her in everything – from counselling to the medication that she takes. I mean, a man that loves his wife,” he added.
“One day I asked her, if I were the one who tested positive, would you stay? She just smiled and then walked out on me,” he revealed.
The most emotional part of JB’s story came when he revealed how his wife longed for a child and how he decided to take a risk to fulfil her dream.
“Sometimes, even when we had intimacy and I used protection, she would start crying, asking when she was going to have her own child. And I took the risk. Whatever was going to happen, should have happened, then she got pregnant.”
JB was placed on medication to reduce the risk of contracting HIV, but he admitted he stopped taking them because of severe stomach cramps.
