Head Pastor and Founder of Family Altar Ministry, Prophet Moses Bennisan, has added his voice to the ongoing national conversation about Ghana’s future and how the country can truly live up to its title as the “Gateway to Africa.”

Speaking on Joytime in His Presence on Joy FM on 1st July, Prophet Bennisan expressed his deep belief in Ghana’s immense potential but emphasized that this potential can only be fully realized through a reorientation of the mindset of its people. “Ghana has the potential,” he stated. “I believe we need to reorient our people to believe in this country, because for some of us, this is all that we have.”

Addressing the practical steps needed to position Ghana as a beacon of hope and prosperity on the continent, Prophet Bennisan highlighted the urgent need for strong institutions and a renewed sense of patriotism. He also noted that weak institutions and declining patriotism have become major obstacles to national progress.

Prophet Moses further argued that Ghana's independence, achieved through struggle, has not translated into sustained national commitment. “Our independence came at the cost of warfare,” he noted.

“But patriotism has departed from the Ghanaian. We’ve become self-centred and greedy. It’s now about what we want, and not what would be good for the nation.”

Prophet Bennisan further called for comprehensive reforms to Ghana's education system, arguing for a curriculum that addresses local challenges and empowers students to develop indigenous solutions. “Let’s give the required education to our children to empower them to solve our problems. I believe that we need homegrown solutions. A lot of the theories out there cannot solve the problems of Ghana.”

The prophet’s comments came just before his appearance at the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, which took place on same day (July 1st), a day that is traditionally observed as Republic Day in Ghana. This year, however, President John Dramani Mahama officially commissioned it as a National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, calling on the nation to reflect, intercede, and seek divine guidance for Ghana’s future.

He ended his radio session by praying for President John Dramani Mahama, asking God to grant him the wisdom and discernment needed to lead the country into a season of peace and abundance.

Prophet Moses Bennisan is a passionate nationalist and a keen observer of Ghana’s socio-economic landscape. He is the author of several books including “Ghana’s Economic Emergence” which talks about how the challenges faced by Ghanaians can be addressed through thoughtful policies.
