Accra, January 30, 2026 — The Phase Three voter intention survey for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries, which are set for January 31, 2026, has been issued by Sanity Africa, a Pan-African civil society group that performs political polling and governance analysis. The survey provides a snapshot of delegate preferences ahead of one of the party’s most closely monitored internal elections.
From an extended delegate list of about 211,000 people, 15,000 delegates from all 276 constituencies were sampled for the survey, which took place between October 2025 and January 2026. The study was conducted with a ±5% margin of error and a 99% confidence level. It includes Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong (Ken), former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia (DMB), former Minister Dr. Bryan Acheampong (Bryan), former Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum (Adutwum), and former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyeapong (Kwabena).
With 52.0% of delegate support, Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong is in the lead, a tiny decrease from 53.1% in Phase Two. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia comes in second with 40.0%, which is higher than the previous survey's 39.0%. Dr. Bryan Acheampong's percentage has increased from 5.0% to 7.0%. Kwabena Agyeapong is still at 0.3%, while Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum is trailing at 0.7%.
Agyapong continues to have an advantage among delegates, according to the study, but Bawumia's minor gains and Agyapong's tiny loss in support point to a tough and dynamic contest. While the other candidates continue to be minor, Bryan Acheampong's increasing numbers show that interest in his campaign is growing.
According to Sanity Africa, the Phase Three survey covers the changing sentiment of NPP delegates in the run-up to the primaries, reflecting the influence of the candidates' messaging, endorsements, campaign tactics, and regional dynamics. The group also highlighted the precision of its earlier polling efforts, like as its accurate forecast that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) would win the Akwatia parliamentary by-election.
On Saturday, January 31, 2026, more than 300 polling places worldwide will host the NPP's presidential primary, and an estimated 211,000 delegates are anticipated to cast ballots.GO ON TO READ MORE >>>
