The Pan-African Progressive Front and the Socialist Forum of Ghana will jointly hold a meeting to prepare for the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the 5th Pan-African Congress, which will be held in Accra in October this year.

The event will be devoted to the fundamental actions that marked the beginning of the struggle for independence in Africa, and the iconic figures who led the struggle for the liberation of the continent from colonial domination.

The zoom conference, held on Thursday, May 29, was attended by pan-African activists from all over the continent, including the famous Pan-African Alby Walls, who was the moderator.

Issues such as the modern world and the relevance of the 5th Pan-African Congress were discussed; the development of an agenda for achieving pan-African goals; the concept and preparation for the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Manchester Conference.

The main speakers were an experienced journalist and Pan-African Quesi Pratt Jr. from Ghana and Senegalese activist Roland Digne.

The participants of the online conference noted that it is necessary to take concrete steps, to implement projects that will already begin to unite Africa. Such a project, for example, can be a demand for reparations from the countries of the global West.

The Fifth Pan-African Congress, held in Manchester, England, in 1945, caused a wave of unrest across the continent, as Africa realised the need to manage its own affairs.

People like Patrice Lumumba, George Padmore, Kwame Nkrumah, Jomo Kenyatta and W.E.B. Dubois were prominent figures who defended the pan-African agenda in those days.
