Ghana’s digital recruitment space is entering a new phase with the transition of the established GhanaCareers platform to Jobs.com.gh, a shorter and more memorable identity designed to support the next stage of the platform’s development.
The move represents more than a change of name. Jobs.com.gh is being positioned as a broad digital recruitment marketplace serving employers, recruitment agencies and job seekers across Ghana.
GhanaCareers has over the years provided an online meeting point for organisations looking for talent and candidates looking for employment opportunities in Ghana. The transition to Jobs.com.gh is intended to build on that foundation while creating a stronger and more recognisable national digital employment brand.
The new domain is particularly significant because of its simplicity.
Jobs.com.gh immediately communicates what the platform does and the market it serves. For employers advertising vacancies, recruitment firms representing clients and candidates searching for their next opportunity, the name is designed to be easy to remember and easy to return to.
Management of the platform says the long-term objective is to develop Jobs.com.gh into one of the most useful digital recruitment marketplaces serving the Ghanaian labour market.
The platform is designed to accommodate different categories of employers rather than only large corporations. SMEs, start-ups, NGOs, educational institutions, established companies and other organisations will be able to advertise opportunities and connect with potential candidates.
Importantly, Jobs.com.gh is also being positioned as an open platform for recruitment agencies.
Recruitment firms will be able to use the platform to increase the reach of vacancies they are managing for clients, attract additional applicants and connect with candidates outside their existing databases.
This approach reflects the increasingly collaborative nature of recruitment, where employers may recruit directly for some positions while using professional recruitment companies for others.
“Our aim is for Jobs.com.gh to become the default job website and digital hiring platform in Ghana,” Peter Mensah, a co-founder of the platform said.
“We want direct employers to be comfortable using the platform, recruitment agencies to see it as a channel that strengthens their work, and candidates to know they can continuously discover new opportunities through Jobs.com.gh.”
For candidates, the platform will continue to cover a wide range of occupations and industries.
Professional and graduate opportunities will appear alongside technical, skilled, operational and entry-level vacancies. This includes opportunities in finance, administration, technology, engineering, manufacturing, construction, hospitality, healthcare, logistics, retail, sales and other areas of the economy.
There is also an increasing focus on making online recruitment relevant beyond traditional office-based employment.
Drivers, technicians, artisans, equipment operators, security personnel, factory workers, hospitality staff and other skilled and semi-skilled workers increasingly use digital platforms when looking for employment. Jobs.com.gh intends to provide visibility for these opportunities as well.
Candidates will be able to browse opportunities through Jobs.com.gh Jobs, while employers gain access to an increasingly diverse audience of job seekers.
The transition also comes at a time when Ghanaian employers are relying more heavily on digital recruitment.
Online advertising allows organisations to reach larger candidate pools quickly, while job seekers increasingly expect to discover vacancies, research employers and apply for opportunities using their phones.
This changing behaviour is creating demand for recruitment platforms that are straightforward, mobile-friendly and easy to remember.
Jobs.com.gh believes its new identity provides a strong foundation for that future.
The GhanaCareers name will gradually give way to Jobs.com.gh as the platform consolidates its operations under the new brand.
For existing users, the change represents continuity rather than the disappearance of an established platform. For new users, Jobs.com.gh provides a more direct introduction to the service.
The ambition is straightforward: to make Jobs.com.gh a familiar destination whenever an employer needs people, a recruiter needs candidates or a job seeker needs an opportunity.
