Fruit processing company Blue Skies has honoured winners of its nationwide “Vibe With Zest” dance challenge at a vibrant ceremony held at the Achimota Mall, marking the climax of a campaign designed to celebrate Ghanaian culture and youth creativity.
The event, which drew participants and spectators from across the country, featured an electrifying performance by renowned dance icon Incredible Zigi, whose stage presence added excitement to the awards presentation.
Campaign Rooted In Culture And Youth Engagement
Speaking in an interview, the Head of Foundation, Brand Communications and Public Relations at Blue Skies, Alistair Djimatey, explained that the initiative was the company’s first of its kind, introduced to promote its newly launched Zest product while celebrating Ghanaian identity.
“This is the first of its kind, and Zest is a new product that we have just introduced onto the Ghanaian market,” he said. “The whole idea is to bring ourselves together. The typical Ghanaian lifestyle is about togetherness.”

He noted that the campaign was initiated during Heritage Month as part of efforts to identify elements that define Ghanaian culture.

“We saw dancing as one of the things that brings all of us together. As a youthful organisation with a refreshing product, we thought using dance would be a powerful way to connect young and old while exploring talent,” he added.
Strong Participation And Digital Selection Process
The competition, which was conducted entirely online for a number of weeks, attracted participation in the tens of thousands, with entries evaluated based on social media metrics such as engagement, followership, and audience interaction.
“It was a full online assessment. No committee sat down to judge. The platforms determined the top performers based on engagement,” Djimatey explained.
According to him, the overwhelming response exceeded expectations.
“The response has been huge, beyond our expectation. We are very grateful to Ghanaians for supporting this campaign,” he said.
Winners And Prizes
A total of 20 participants were recognised from the over 50,000 entries, with major prizes awarded to the top three performers.
The overall winner, AfroTyza, received GHS 10,000, while Jellywest and Teamwarriors dancecrew, second and third place winners took home GHS 6,000 and GHS 4,000 respectively, along with branded souvenirs and other rewards.
Additional participants received consolation prizes, including cash honoraria.
Boost For Ghana’s Creative Industry
Djimatey emphasised that beyond marketing, the initiative contributes meaningfully to the growth of Ghana’s creative arts sector, particularly dance.
“This programme gives young people an opportunity to explore dance as a profession. It is no longer just a pastime; it is something you can build a career from,” he said.
He highlighted the participation of the University of Ghana’s Department of Dance and Culture as a testament to the art form’s significance.
“It tells you how important dance is. As Ghanaians and Africans, dance is part of our identity. We dance when we are happy, when we are sad, at ceremonies and even at funerals. It is who we are,” he noted.
Promoting Unity And Cultural Expression
The “Vibe With Zest” campaign also served as a platform to unite people across demographics while promoting Ghanaian culture.
“For us, it is not just about publicity. It is about touching lives, bringing people together, and promoting our culture,” Djimatey said.
He added that the initiative has uncovered emerging talents and provided exposure that could shape future careers in the creative industry.
Looking Ahead
While the company has not confirmed a date for the next edition, Djimatey assured that the programme would return.
“We will review and come back stronger. Ghanaians should keep watching this space,” he said.
He concluded by expressing appreciation to participants, media partners, and the general public for their support, urging continued celebration of Ghanaian culture through creative expression.
