Takoradi's Central Business District came alive with vibrant masqueraders showcasing their rich cultural heritage during the Westside Carnival, popularly known as the "Ankos". The event, which is a major highlight of Christmas celebrations in Ghana, featured over 30 masquerade groups, brass bands, and trumpets performing at different locations.
The streets were filled with colorful and unique costumes, as well as amazing dance and fancy performances. Onlookers, who traveled from far and near, were thrilled by the spectacular artistic displays. Members of the masquerade groups, such as John Amoah from the Yankee Masquerade group, highlighted the importance of the carnival in bringing families and friends together.
The event also showcased Takoradi as the preferred destination for Christmas festivities in Ghana. As Nathaniel Egyir from the Cosmos Masquerade group put it, "Takoradi is the place to be during Christmas... let us use this season to live in peace and harmony with one another."

To ensure a safe and incident-free environment, Police personnel were present at vantage points and intersections. The carnival was a resounding success, with many already looking forward to next year's event.
