The late arrival of exam papers at some Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) centers has prompted Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu to call for an overhaul of the examination process. He visited the Boako MA JHS center in Sefwi Wiawso, where question papers arrived late, disrupting the start of the exams. The Minister directed the Ghana Education Service (GES) to review how exam materials are transported to prevent similar delays in future sessions ¹ ².
The 2026 BECE, which started on May 4 and runs until May 11, involves 620,141 candidates from 20,395 schools nationwide. The Minister assured candidates that the examination would remain strictly within the syllabus and urged them to remain calm and focused on their performance ³ ⁴.
