Gregory Afoko, who regained his freedom on February 28, 2025, after fulfilling bail conditions set by the High Court, has called for unity and kindness among Ghanaians. He urged people to show love and avoid wickedness towards one another.

Afoko had been in custody since 2015, accused of conspiring with Asabke Alangdi in the acid attack that led to the death of Adams Mahama, the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Upper East Regional Chairman.

After years of legal battles, the court granted him bail in the amount of GHC 500,000 with two sureties.

His release marks a significant development in the decade-long case, where Afoko and Alangdi were alleged to have attacked Mahama, leading to his death from severe burns.
