The Psychiatric Association of Ghana (PAG) has pledged it's support to Dr. Yennusom Maalug in a congratulatory message to him, as he is set to take over as the new head of Pantang Hospital.
This follows his appointment by the current Chief Executive of the Mental Health Authority, Dr. Pinaman Appau in a letter dated 15th April, 2025.
PAG, in a goodwill message to Dr. Maalug stated:
"We are absolutely thrilled about your appointment as the Ag. Director of Pantang Hospital! It's impressive!
PAG is proud of your achievement and we're all rooting for you as you take on this important new role. Keep it up!"
PAG is the mother body of all Psychiatrists as registered by the Ghana Medical and Dental Council, and working either in Ghana or in the diaspora.
Dr. Maalug, a Senior Specialist Psychiatrist at Pantang hospital, takes over as the new Hospital Director effective 28th April, 2025.
Before his appointment, as the Hospital Director, he held several key positions aside from leading a cinical team made up of Residents in Psychiatry, Medical Officers, Nurses, etc .

He was a member of the Quality Assurance Committee of the Hospital from 2016 - 2018.

He was also the Chairman of the Hospital Accommodation Allocation Committee from 2017 till he resigned in May 2022.

Dr. Maalug is also part of the Hospital's sports team. He has led the table tennis team of the Hospital to win Gold on two occasions during the CAMHA games in 2023 and 2024 respectively.
With over a decade of experience in the mental health sector, Dr. Maalug is the current Vice-President of the Psychiatric Association of Ghana (PAG). Before contesting to be elected the Vice-President, he was the Organizing Secretary from 2021 to 2023.
Dr. Maalug also holds a Master's in Public Health from the School of Public Health University of Ghana.
Dr. Maalug's desire to bring reform to the addiction services in the Hospital led him to push for the setting up of an out-patient addiction clinic and out-patient rehab at Pantang hospital.
