GH¢270 million has been successfully distributed by the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to healthcare providers across the country to satisfy claims that were filed and reviewed up until October 2024 and a portion of November 2024.
The payments are within the predetermined three-month reimbursement timeframe, according to a statement signed on January 3 by NHIA Chief Executive Dr. Da-Costa Aboagye, who also stated that there are currently no unpaid vetted claims.
"This most recent payment strengthens the Authority's continued commitment to assisting healthcare providers and guaranteeing the sustainability of the NHIS, bringing the total amount released by the NHIA over the last four months to over GH¢1.2 billion."
NHIA healthcare institutions were asked by Dr. Da-Costa Aboagye to file their claims as soon as possible because they shouldn't span more than 90 days.
The NHIA has also made sizable payouts in recent months in addition to this present payment. After disbursing more than GH¢335 million on October 9, 2024, for claims pertaining to August 2024, the NHIA issued GH¢200 million on December 1, 2024, for claims spanning September and a portion of October 2024.

To satisfy claims for June and July 2024, the NHIA started paying out GH¢402 million to medical facilities in September 2024. These reimbursements show how committed the Authority is to meeting its financial commitments to healthcare providers and bolstering the healthcare industry for the good of all Ghanaians.
