Member of Parliament for Twifo Atiimorkwaa, Hon. David Vondee, has stated that religion and superstition should have no place in discussions about development, especially when serious national issues are at stake.

He made the remarks while reacting to claims that bees attacked a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kpandai following the High Court’s ruling ordering a rerun of the parliamentary election.

According to him, attempts to link such incidents to spiritual or mystical causes only distract the public from rational discourse and democratic principles.

Hon. Vondee questioned why political developments and court decisions are often interpreted through a religious or spiritual lens instead of being addressed with logic and facts.

He stressed that Ghana is a constitutional democracy governed by laws, not spiritual speculation. In his view, attributing unfortunate incidents to “spiritual ordeals” trivializes governance, fuels fear, and undermines efforts to educate citizens on civic responsibility and the rule of law.

He emphasized that development thrives on education, critical thinking, and evidence-based decision-making, not fear or mysticism.

Hon. Vondee called on Ghanaians to focus on peaceful participation in the electoral process and respect for court rulings, noting that national progress cannot be achieved when religion is misused to explain or justify political events.
