The newly elected SRC President of Modal College, Sogakope, Mr. Emmanuel Gurah, has announced bold plans to introduce political intellectualism to student life by initiating the formation of campus chapters of TEIN (Tertiary Education Institutions Network) and TESCON (Tertiary Students Confederacy).
This move, he believes, will give students a platform to engage actively in national political discourse and build leadership capacity for the future.
In a meeting with student leaders and departmental heads over the weekend, President Emmanuel stressed the importance of creating space for political diversity and education in tertiary institutions. “Our students must not only pass their exams, but must also understand the political forces shaping the country. TEIN and TESCON are platforms that can help students learn, question, and grow politically,” he said.
The initiative is already generating discussions across campus, with some students praising the idea as long overdue, while others have expressed concern about the possible rise of partisan tensions. However, President Emmanuel reassured the student body that the approach will be non-disruptive and focused on dialogue, development, and democratic values.

If successful, Modal College will become one of the few private institutions in the Volta Region to officially host both TEIN and TESCON chapters, an ambitious step that could redefine student politics and activism on the campus.
