In an evocative interview with Tony Mark-Boye on GBC Volta Star Radio, Rev. Dr. Stephen Tetteh Worwui, Communication Officer of the NDC in the Hohoe Constituency, has lauded the indelible mark left by Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings on Ghana's educational landscape, particularly in the realm of early childhood development. As he extolled her virtues, he could not help but lament the deplorable state of educational infrastructure bequeathed by the erstwhile PNDC/NDC administration, led by the late Jerry John Rawlings.

A Life Devoted to Pedagogy

Rev. Dr. Stephen Tetteh Worwui recalled his maiden encounter with Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings as a young boy, when she visited Hohoe to commission a kindergarten adjacent to the E.P. Primary School park. Her effervescent personality and genuine affection for children left an enduring impression on him. "Her focus on child education was unparalleled and makes her forever imprinted in our childhood memories," he averred. Her visionary approach led to the establishment of kindergartens in marketplaces, alleviating the burden on women and fostering a culture of female empowerment.

A Movement that Moved the Nation

The 31st December Women's Movement, championed by Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, was a testament to her unwavering commitment to the welfare of women and children. Her intrepid spirit took her to the hinterlands, where she ensured the construction of schools, often venturing into areas inaccessible to other high-profile politicians. Rev. Dr. Stephen Tetteh Worwui expressed dismay, however, that some of the pavilions built to accommodate the burgeoning school-going population have fallen into disrepair, serving instead as community meeting centres.

A Legacy that Bears Replication

As Ghana continues to strive for educational excellence, Rev. Dr. Stephen Tetteh Worwui-Tetteh's eulogy serves as a heartfelt reminder of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings' trailblazing efforts. Her selfless dedication to the nation's children has left an enduring legacy, one that merits emulation and celebration. It is imperative that future generations acknowledge and build upon her foundational work, ensuring that the torch of educational illumination continues to shine brightly across the Ghanaian firmament.
