Akatsi, Volta Region - The Akatsi North District celebrated its hardworking farmers at a vibrant Farmers' Day event in Avevi, with Hon. Bless Kojo Katamani, Akatsi North District Chief Executive, urging citizens to prioritize local production and consumption.
In his speech, Hon. Katamani emphasized the importance of adopting a "eat what we grow, grow what we eat" approach, saying, "It's time we take responsibility for our own food security. We must prioritize local production and consumption, and support our farmers to produce more."
He continued, "Imagine if we could produce all the food we need locally, we would save foreign exchange, create jobs, and improve our economy. Let's work together to make this vision a reality."
The event recognized outstanding farmers, including Torbokor Afatsawu Agbawu, Korve Ati Kofi Emmanuel, Wukpe David Dodzi, Agormor Alfred Yaw Mensah, Avega Israel Agbemakla, Abla Segbedzi, Dzadzepe Francis Afortude, and groups such as E.P. Church - Dzalele, Metrsikasa D/A Basic School, Ave Senior High School, and Dakpa Green Crop Group, for their contributions to food security in the district.
Hon. Katamani's message was clear: Akatsi North must take charge of its own food production, and work towards building a more sustainable and self-sufficient future.
